When my original power cord fried itself on a particularly scorching evening, I made the mistake of ordering the product at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00456VUS6/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00 before this one-- It didn't work on my DV7... On ANY of the HP computers in my house.

Anyway, I was a little concerned about ordering from another Amazon source on this matter, but HP itself asks 90$ for a charger that doesn't even have the same wattage (not generally a good idea) or a grounding prong.

I ordered from this dealer and got my package quickly and while the quality of the product is slightly lower than my original power cord (cheaper plastic housing), it works just fine ,and that's all I can ask at this price. A FANTASTIC deal, really. I am considering ordering another "just in case", but I don't forsee any problems. It doesn't seem to be getting too hot or melting (a complaint I've read of other cheaper replacement power cords) and the wiring is as sturdy as the original.

The design of the HP plug for the models of computers this fits is very poor; including this product. Lifespan seems to be only about six months before a break begins to appear at the plug end that goes into the computer.

I have had no problems with my laptop itself, only the power connection associated with this plug. It is VERY frustrating to have to keep replacing this part. (I purchased three of these just to have replacements available when needed).

Unfortunately, anyone having a computer with this plug type/size will just have to deal with the issue (I've spoken with others who have had the exact same problems).

Original HP DV1000 DV5000 DV6000 AC ADAPTER CHARGER

This will be the fifth adaptor I've purchased or received on warranty exchange for HP Pavilion notebooks. Four HP-brand adaptors, one aftermarket.

The strain relief on both ends of the DC cable is poorly designed. The wires at the barrel of the connector that goes into the computer tend to come loose or melt the insulation. The strain relief at the body of the connector breaks or comes loose. No complaints about the AC cord or the power supply itself.

The one aftermarket supply I purchased lasted only about a month before the DC cable came apart. At least the original HP units last for a year or so.

Am puchasing two this time. When those go I'll go laptop shopping. It won't be an HP.

The good: this product does work, has a button to prevent charging battery if you want. comes with an adapter to expand compatibility with other HP laptops. Seperate, detachable power cables (air/auto vs 120v AC).
The bad: First, this adapter is not very travel friendly. This adapter is HUGE compared to many of the regular OEM power adapter. check the size before you buy. The wire that goes out of the adapter to the laptop is very stiff, which may be a hassle for most. The default setting when you plug any of the power plugs (air/ac/auto)in is set to "not charge" your laptop, meaning if you unplug the adapter from the ac/auto/air source and replug it in, it will not charge your laptop until you press the button, which can easily result in a empty laptop battery if you keep moving around with the charger and forget to press the button on top. lastly, this adapter's plug for the laptop is the kind with a small pin (think antenna cable for televisions)but it includes an adapter to allow the charger to be plugged into other hp models, this adapter does not fit snug when connected to the cable (pulls off easily).
Overall, i wouldn't recommend this unless you plan on leaving it plugged into the wall, and RARELY need it for travel.

This product is compatible with my HP mini 210-1010 laptop. It is cheaper than the HP website 59.95, only negative is that on the HP website it has a 1 year warranty and on Amazon it only has a 30 day warranty. Received the product today, and this is NOT the same part as HP model VE025AA#ABA.

The HP 120W power adapter VE025AA is a slim line power adapter. The unit sold here is not.

HP model VE025AA is HP P/N 644699-003. This unit is HP P/N 463555-001.

HP model VE025AA has HP spare P/N 645156-001. This unit has HP spare P/N 463953-001.

While you may think this is not that important, the big issue with the the OUTPUT of the power adapter, which determines how hard your laptop needs to work to keep the power regulated. Incorrect matching of the voltage or insufficient amperage can lead to premature breakdown.

This model supplies 18.5v and 6.5A. The correct part supplies 19.5v and 6.15A. So while this quasi-replacement adapater for the HP Envy 17 has enough amperage the VOLTAGE is incorrect and forces the voltage regulator to work harder on the laptop.

*** UPDATE ***

HP technical support has confirmed that while this model is NOT the VE025AA#ABA it is a viable replacement adapter for the HP Envy 17. 18.5V is within the acceptable input range and will not cause any problems with the Envy 17 model.

HP KS526AA 12-Cell Multi Charge Extended Battery

With this being my second laptop to date, I know that the battery shipped with the unit is usually not enough. Although I had been getting about two hours on average with the battery that shipped with my HP Pavilion, I needed something more for those times when I expected to use the computer without access to an available AC outlet for more than two hours. This battery is far superior to anything else that I compared on the internet, and where I live the Computer Stores don't even carry extended life batteries for the laptops that they sell.

This battery has some of the extras not seen on off market batteries with lower price tags, and from Amazon.com with shipping was lower than some of the off market batteries that I compared it to. Although an extended battery is going to be larger that the original battery shipped with the computer (A little more than double the size), and obviously weighs more too, It is well worth having around because I am getting just under six hours on average with this unit.

This unit has two features that drew me to purchase it in the end - two features that I haven't come across before in an extended battery.
1.- On the side of this unit there is a battery check feature that utilizes a push button and four LED's in a circle to gauge the amount of power you have. For every one LED lit, you have twenty-five percent battery life left.
2.- On the top of the unit there is a port that accommodates Any standard HP branded, or HP brand compatible off market AC Charger. Therefore you have the option to charge your shipped OEM battery in your laptop while you charge the HP Extended battery without even being in the computer! An excellent idea for those that need to charge more than one battery at a time.

The height differential is nominal at best. Raises the back of the computer about 3/4 of an inch. Although I don't care about the difference in height for typing comfort even though an angle is recommended for typing comfort, The height differential is acceptable for increased airflow beneath the computer. My computer fans seem to be running less.

Now for the cons (there aren't many, and just something that is confusing) - On Amazon's website as well as HP's, this battery says that it is compatible with the following notebook Series: HP Pavilion: dv4, dv5, HP HDX: HDX 16 HP: G50, G60, G70 Compaq Presario: CQ40, CQ45, CQ50, CQ60 and CQ70. On HP's website that includes the dv6 model which I have. On the box when you receive it, it omits the dv6 compatibility even though it is compatible. Don't be confused.

In conclusion this battery is well worth the price through amazon.com. It is a lot cheaper than if you would buy it from HP Direct, and with the features that it includes is far superior to an off market external battery. I would recommend this to another HP laptop user, and even if all you are concerned about is having a battery for extra PC time, this battery is worth the price for the extra features that you have access to.

HP 90W AC Adapter for Select HP Laptops

I've had this AC Adapter for JUST over a month. (Just past the 30 day return period) and it has stopped working. I never transported or unplugged the adapter as I never moved my laptop, it looks like everything is fine but it broke. The CONTACT US email and phone number the seller listed points to Amazon.com so there is no way to actually contact the seller about this. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SELLER!

Small, lightweight, much more portable than 120W version. Powers and charges simultaneously. Works on my Envy17 and dv7.
